Boxford offers its students an education that is both classical and Christian. It is classical in that it draws deeply on the rich heritage of Western civilization and culture; it is Christian in that it recognizes the Bible as the final authority in matters of life and thought.  Students are encouraged to develop a worldview that integrates Christian faith with all areas of learning.

Classical Christian education at Boxford Academy includes:

  • A focus on Western heritage through the reading of virtuous literary works and the study of history.
  • The training of students in the comprehensive use of scholarly habits.
  • The nurturing of the highest Christian virtues in each student through core academics.
  • The commitment to employing faculty that foster strong values, discipline, character, and leadership qualities in each student.
  • The teaching of classical language (Latin).
  • A commitment to small class sizes to ensure challenging yet supportive instruction.
  • The alignment of curriculum with the 3 stages of intellectual development described in the Latin Trivium: grammar, logic, and rhetoric.
  • The appreciation of classical “Beauty” through a thorough introduction to fine arts.  Boxford is unique in that it sets aside one day a week (Enrichment Day) to focus on music and art—a distinctive aspect of the Classical tradition.

The Academy seeks to maintain a peaceful, disciplined learning environment so that children are free to learn and not to be distracted. We strive to create a school culture in which children are respectful of others and obedient to adults.
