"Lack of discipline leads to frustration and self-loathing"
- Marie Chapian

Boxford Academy requires that all students maintain a code of conduct befitting a member of a Christian school family. Students are required to be cooperative, courteous, trustworthy, and respectful. We want the actions of all in this place to honor and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. We all know that conduct affects not only ourselves but all those around us - for good or ill. In the context of this Christian school, therefore, we all have a responsibility to shape our behavior for the good of others, for our families, for fellow students, for faculty, and most of all, for the Lord.

For the times it becomes necessary to use corrective measures, we have a system in place for assessment and response. Most infractions are handled by the classroom teacher. There is usually no consequence to these beyond the verbal correction, missed recess, or perhaps after school detention given by the teacher.

If a student commits a more serious offense, the decision as to what corrective measures should be used is made by the Headmaster. If the Headmaster decides that a serious offense has been committed, warranting in the student's expulsion from school, his recommendation is forwarded to the Board of Directors for final disposition. If a suspension is called for the student will be required to serve the suspension at home. Zeros will be given for all work missed.

Use by students of non-prescribed drugs, alcohol, tobacco or weapons, on or off campus, will result in immediate expulsion from the school with possibility of re-entry only upon a new application. In other words, we have a zero-tolerance policy. Likewise, lewd behavior or repeated disrespect for teachers or staff will result in the same penalty. Disobedience to school rules or instructions from teachers, or failure to do homework or schoolwork will result in a penalty, with detention employed early and a set of detentions leading to suspension. A third suspension in an academic year requires expulsion for the remainder of the academic year, even in the case of an otherwise cooperative student. Students are not allowed to bring electronic devices or weapons of any kind to school without prior permission form their teacher or headmaster. A student who chronically fails to turn in homework will be put on academic probation. All missing homework must be turned in promptly to remove the academic probation. Continued, frequent failure to turn in homework is grounds for dismissal.
