Why have a dress code?

• It saves time and money, eliminates competitiveness, relieves the pressure to be fashionable, contributes to a positive classroom atmosphere, improves focus on work, promotes school spirit, and encourages mutual respect.
• Uniforms are normally cheaper than varied clothing purchased individually, therefore, a uniform dress code saves students and their families money. It also frees students from conforming to the pressures of trying to look stylish or anti-conformist in a society where being stylish is not only very costly, but to a considerable degree defined by those profiting financially from lavish clothing styles and frequent changes in styles.
• There is a natural relationship, proven by experiment and experience, between care in dress and care in academic effort.

When is the student dress code in effect?

• The dress code is in effect during all school hours of operation, one-half hour before the opening of school and one-half hour after the close of school.
• Students may not change out of their uniforms before leaving the premises unless preparing for official after-school sports offered by Boxford Academy.
• Students are expected to wear their uniforms to all school functions unless given specific instructions otherwise.

What happens when a student does not adhere to the dress code?

• In the event that a student arrives improperly dressed for school, the following course of action will be taken:
• Parents will receive a note from the teacher, reminding them of proper dress code. Two such notices will be given
• If problem persists, parents will be notified about the situation and appropriate attire will be brought to school within one hour. If that is impossible, uniform items will be rented from school and a fee may be charged.
• Ongoing, willful noncompliance will be handled by the Board of Directors and may include the student's dismissal from the academy.

How do I order uniforms?

• Our uniform supplier is Harvey Uniforms. They ship via UPS the day of your phone order, provided the items are in stock. You can receive your order within two or three days any time of year. They also take back or exchange items that don't fit and will help you with measurements over the phone.
