At Boxford Academy, the conviction that defines our educational philosophy is that education
must begin with the knowledge of God as Supreme Power, as Loving Father, as Master Designer,
as Keeper of our hours and days, and as the Holy, Eternal God before whom we will some day
stand and answer for our words and actions. The human mind needs God to be supreme in
order for wholeness, knowledge and wisdom to follow. All academic disciplines should be
submissive to the order and beauty of this truth.
By God's design, adults are given the responsibility to care for children. It is our
God-given duty and privilege to instill in their lives those habits of heart and mind
which will properly guide and assist them through life. The personal vision of these
adults must be clear and open in two directions: up to the Heavenly Father for guidance
and godliness, to receive the wisdom needed for proper words and actions, then down to
the children, communicating with confidence and strength what our Heavenly Father is to
us: loving designer, trustworthy keeper and the authority for proper words and actions.
To leave children without this security, and instead to abandon them to whims of emotion,
fads of culture or selfish passions is a great error.
Children are in the training period of life. Daily they should be guided to establish
habits and skills which will hold them for a lifetime. Those of us who are responsible
for them want to make sure that the path is safe, that the academics are rigorous yet
attainable and that there is plenty of room for laughter. They need to know
that our worth does not come from worldly success but from the one true God who
made us and shaped our lives with eternal purpose. No child should be deprived
of these truths which will bring so much joy and fulfillment.
